Principal's Welcome Message: 2024-2025 School Year

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am thrilled to welcome both our returning students and those who are new to our school community. Our school is located on the beautiful Treaty 4 territory, and we are grateful to live, learn, and grow together on this land.

At our school, we strive to foster a positive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. Our core values of Respect, Responsibility, Caring, and Safety guide everything we do. We encourage all students to live by these values, both in and out of the classroom, as they are the foundation of our school culture. Together, we can create a community where everyone feels valued and supported.

This year, we are excited to offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities that will allow students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and build lasting friendships.

I encourage all families to take the time to review our school handbook. It is a valuable resource that outlines our values, expectations, and important policies. Familiarizing yourself with this information will help ensure a successful and positive experience for everyone.

As we embark on this new school year, we have set five important goals for our school community:

  1. Literacy: Enhancing reading and writing skills across all grade levels. Our goal will primarily be surrounding writing, but reading remains a priority as well.
  2. Numeracy: Strengthening students' mathematical understanding and problem-solving abilities.
  3. Mental Health and Wellbeing: Promoting a healthy, supportive environment where students' emotional and mental well-being is prioritized.
  4. Student Transitions: Supporting students as they move through key transitions, whether between grades or into new learning environments. This includes of use of Edsby!
  5. Indigenous Education: Deepening our commitment to Indigenous education and fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of Indigenous cultures and perspectives.

We are excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to working together to make this school year a successful one for all. Once again, welcome to the 2024-2025 school year. Let’s make it a great one!

Warm regards,

Janelle Law
